Search TDCJ Release Records

To find someone released through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after a Hopkins County conviction, use the statewide prison record rather than the county jail roster. Hopkins County has no TDCJ unit. A person sent from the local jail to state custody has transferred, not entered the community. Later parole, mandatory supervision, or sentence discharge follows TDCJ processing and produces a different status trail. The most reliable check combines the official offender detail, release-processing information, and the correct supervision office when supervision continues after prison.

TDCJ Hopkins Release Paths

The official TDCJ unit directory shows no state prison or state-jail unit in Hopkins County. A Hopkins-sentenced person may serve elsewhere in Texas based on classification, offense, security, medical needs, available beds, and release processing. The captured directory page confirms that statewide structure:

Leaving Hopkins County Jail for TDCJ begins state confinement. It is not a county community release. Later outcomes include parole, mandatory supervision, or a flat discharge at sentence completion. Parole and mandatory supervision leave a person under TDCJ Parole Division authority. A flat discharge ends the state sentence term, subject to any separate case or custodian.

Search TDCJ Hopkins Records

Begin at the TDCJ Inmate Information page and open the official online search. A TDCJ number or SID number is more exact than a name. When only a name is known, use the offense and county details to avoid confusing people with similar names.

  1. Enter the TDCJ number or SID number when available.
  2. Otherwise search last name and first name, then use sex and race only to narrow identity.
  3. Open the detail and review location, offense, sentence, parole fields, and current status.
  4. Separate Projected Release Date from a Scheduled Release Date and from an actual release.
  5. For incomplete history, use the official TDCJ inmate-information email channel.
  6. For a favorable Board vote still awaiting departure, contact Review and Release Processing.

TDCJ Release Date Meanings

TDCJ defines Projected Release Date as the date calculated by Classification and Records when a person is expected to leave incarceration if parole does not occur earlier. It can change. A Scheduled Release Date appears after processing advances, but TDCJ warns that even scheduled dates can change without notice, including on the planned day. Parole eligibility is only the first date legal consideration can begin.

Parole eligibility
The point when the Board may consider release, not a promise.
Projected Release Date
A current TDCJ calculation based on sentence and legal inputs.
Scheduled Release Date
A later processing field that still can change.
Actual release
The completed physical departure shown by status or release history.
Maximum expiration
The calculated end of the sentence when no earlier release controls.

Texas has no blanket rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. Government Code Chapter 498 makes good-conduct time relevant to parole or mandatory-supervision eligibility and allows forfeiture. Government Code Chapter 508 contains offense-specific rules. Serious cases can require calendar-time thresholds that good time does not advance. Public calculations should not replace TDCJ’s current record.

TDCJ Hopkins Release Processing

The TDCJ release-information page states that state-prison releases generally occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Scheduled dates may change, so family should call before traveling. The matching captured source shows the official logistics page:

TDCJ release processing information for Hopkins County offenders

Certain men with detainers, registration duties, intensive-supervision conditions, or electronic monitoring may release through Huntsville Unit. State-jail inmates generally release from their assigned unit. TDCJ describes family pickup or a bus ticket or voucher to a station near the approved residence, release clothing, trust-fund balances, and category-based release money.

Parole and mandatory-supervision releases generally receive a $50 gate check and another $50 after reporting. Flat Correctional Institutions Division discharges receive $100. State-jail inmates receive no release money under the cited Texas framework. These are state logistics, not rules for a Hopkins County bond release.

Note: Call the unit or status channel shortly before travel because release plans and dates can change.

Government Code Section 552.029 identifies TDCJ information subject to required disclosure, including identifier, physical description, department photograph, offense, judgment, sentence, conviction court and county, release-date fields, parole information, and prior confinement. The routine email channel does not provide photographs, so a focused public-information request may be needed for one.

Hopkins Parole Release Office

Hopkins County parole and mandatory-supervision cases are assigned to the Paris District Parole Office, Region I. The captured official page documents that office:

The official page names Chad Paulson. Use the statewide status line first for public status. Do not appear at the office expecting staff to disclose a private reporting schedule. County probation is different: Hopkins Adult Probation administers court-ordered community supervision and has no public person-search tool. A probationer may never have entered TDCJ.

TDCJ Release Holds

A favorable parole vote does not establish physical departure. Release plans, certificates, detainers, registration, monitoring, and processing can intervene. The Board decision explains authorization; Review and Release Processing tracks the event after a favorable vote. If the status remains confined, do not convert a decision code into a release date.

A detainer is authority or a request that may cause another custodian to receive the person. When TDCJ identifies a detainer, the person may leave the prison system without entering the community. Follow the receiving agency. Likewise, an Under Supervision state IVSS status describes post-prison supervision, while Out of Custody should be paired with date and history detail before describing discharge.

The state path is distinct from the local jail. A Hopkins County roster cannot prove TDCJ discharge, and TDCJ cannot establish the exact time of an earlier county bond-out.

For a Hopkins commitment, preserve the conviction county, cause number, SID or TDCJ number, unit, and every status date. Those identifiers link the local judgment to the state record and help resolve a name match. If the online fields conflict with a notice or expected departure, ask TDCJ which date reflects the current sentence calculation and whether another hold changed the release destination. The final status history is stronger evidence than an earlier projection.
